Practice Sessions

Bob White, (561-801-1021 and bob_white@pba.edu) NCCAA Women’s Division I Volleyball Chair, will assign/schedule all practice sessions which are only available on Wednesday, December 2 from at 8:00, 9:05, 10:10, 11:15, and 12:20.  Teams may park in public lot at side of building and enter through main lobby for practice day only.

Each team will have one hour on-court time with a 5-minute switch time built into schedule.  Teams wishing to have split time on both courts must arrange such a split with their assigned practice partner.

Beginning Thursday, teams vehicles will park in the restricted area (you will be directed upon arrival) each day and all players/staff will enter through the security checkpoint which is for players/staff only in back of building.  Please allow 3-5 minutes for this check-in process which is required for all city/municipal facilities.

CSP Schedule

The event Christian Service Project (CSP) is a hands-on opportunity for NCCAA Division I Volleyball to assist Campus Crusade for Christ in their Christmas Gift Distribution.  All teams must be at Campus Crusade for Christ headquarters located at 11205 Lake Hart Drive, Orlando, FL 32832 (407-281-3400) by 2:45 PM on Wednesday, December 2.  Please plan to arrive on time out of respect for the CCC staff and volunteers that are setting up this event. Someone will meet each team vehicle at guard house or gate and direct you to the proper building.

Once on site, teams will be welcomed by CCC staff and then student-athletes will begin sorting and packaging the gifts for the at risk kids/families.  Players will then pray over the gifts before departing.

In preparation for this effort, all NCCAA Division I Volleyball teams are asked to provide the following gift/toy items based upon each player’s birth month.  There are ample shopping places to pick up these items for teams that fly in or drive a significant distance and prefer not to have to carry items with them.

Toy Assignments for NCCAA Volleyball Participants:

All Participants                                      One pack (3 pairs or more) white socks (kids or medium adult in size)

All coaches                                           Toy for 1-3 year old child (Women buy for girl and Men buy for boy)

Players born in January or July                Toy for 4-5 year old child (Women buy for girl and Men buy for boy)

Players born in February or August          Toy for 6-7 year old child (Women buy for girl and Men buy for boy)

Players born in March or September        Toy for 8-9 year old child (Women buy for girl and Men buy for boy)

Players born in April or October               Toy for 10-11 year old child (Women buy for girl and Men buy for boy)

Players born in May or November            Toy for 12-13 year old child (Women buy for girl and Men buy for boy)

Players born in June or December           Toy for 14-15 year old child (Women buy for girl and Men buy for boy)

The success of this effort truly depends upon each team member bringing their assigned product(s) and then showing up to work on Christ’s behalf.  The folks at CCC are excited about this effort and were truly concerned about how this year’s Toy Drive effort would go due to poor economy and increased need throughout Kissimmee and Orlando.

Coaches Meetings (required)

The Championship Coaches Meeting will be Wednesday, December 2 at 3:00-4:30 PM at Campus Crusade for Christ headquarters.  The All-American selection meeting will be scheduled and Region representatives alerted. Coaches should plan to sit in on initial welcome and prayer time for the Toy/Gift Drive at 2:45 PM and then break away for meeting as student-athletes begin their CSP effort.   We are very thankful to CCC for providing the necessary meeting space at no cost to the NCCAA.

Championship Banquet

The Opening Serve Banquet (Sunday attire requested) will be held at the Kissimmee Civic Center on Wednesday, December 2 at 7:30 PM.  This event is for all participating student-athletes, coaching staffs and parents (spaced available).  Tickets for parents/fans are $30 and may be paid via cash or check at the door.  Coaches are asked to reserve all necessary seats for their team traveling party and any parents/fans they desire to have at the banquet through Dan Wood (dwood@thenccaa.org) by Tuesday, November 24 at 5:00 PM. The attire for the banquet on Wednesday, 12/2 at the Kissimmee Civic Center is Sunday/Business casual as the venue will be set with clothe seat covers, china, etc. for a nice evening to kick off the National Championship.

Parking

All team vehicles will have access to restricted parking fee of charge.  All other vehicles will be subject to $5/day charge per city ordinance.

Subject: AVCA/NCCAA Partnership

Dear NCCAA Division II Volleyball Coaches,

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) have recently established a new partnership and are excited about the opportunities it will create for YOU!

The AVCA works to develop and grow the sport of volleyball by providing a professional network for those individuals and companies dedicated to enhancing and developing the sport. Membership is comprised of national and international coaches, collegiate, high school, club, youth and Olympic coaches, as well as club directors.

The AVCA is proud to honor on and off the court successes of our member coaches and their student-athletes through our many awards programs. For the fall of 2009, the AVCA has created an Awards Program designed specifically for coaches and student-athletes affiliated with the NCCAA. This program will include:

·         NCCAA Division I and II America Teams – One fourteen-member team for both Divisions I an II, recognizing the top athletes in the NCCAA.

·         NCCAA National Player of the Year – recipient will be flown in to the AVCA Annual Convention and properly recognized at the All-America/Player of the Year Banquet.

·         NCCAA National Assistant Coach of the Year (NEW!) recipient will be formally recognized at the jostens Coaches Honors Luncheon at the AVCA Annual Convention.

·         NCCAA National Coach of the Year – recipient will be formally recognized at the jostens Coaches Honors Luncheon at the AVCA Annual Convention.

·         Team Academic – honors volleyball teams at the high school and college level that are successful in the classroom. In the 2008-09 season, the AVCA recognized 409 teams, setting a new all-time high!

o        NCCAA Winners for 2008-09: Clearwater Christian College, Lincoln Christian College

·         Victory Club – recognizes milestone achievements in coaching.

Not only would you be eligible for recognition for your student-athletes, institution and yourself, but an AVCA membership gains you access to a variety of coaching educational resources covering topics that include volleyball drills, marketing and promotions, offensive and defensive systems, coaching strategies and conditioning through the award-winning technical journal Coaching Volleyball magazine and electronic newsletters At the Net, Volleyball ACE Power Tips, and VolleyBiz.

Don’t wait any longer! Head coaches must be an active AVCA member by October 16, 2009 to be eligible for post-season awards programs! Attached you will find a membership form that you can fill out and remit with payment to the AVCA. You can also sign up for membership by visiting the AVCA Web site at www.avca.org.

We look forward to having you as a part of our team!
