*Denotes number of years selected to the NCCAA
Division I All-America Team
NCCAA Names Grace College’s Rachel
Bult as Susan R. Hellings Award Recipient
Senior setter Rachel Bult has been a
major player for Grace College (IN) for the past four years. She is
a two-time NCCAA Scholar-Athlete, two-time 2nd team
All-Conference player, currently 2nd on the all-time
career assists leader for Grace College with over 1486 assists, and
has served as team captain for 3 years. She also led her team to
the semi-finals of the 2011 NCCAA National Volleyball Championships
in Kissimmee, Florida.
Coach Andria Harshman says, “Rachel is
deeply in love with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She came to
college four years ago with a passion for Christ, however over the
past four years I have had the opportunity to see that faith grow
and mature into the young woman she is today. It was through the
tragic death of a teammate last year when Rachel rose to the top.
As team captain, she was forced to help keep the team moving and she
and others on the team were great examples of how to stay together
as a team. She cried many tears with all of us, but each game she
suited up and played, she practiced hard, and eventually helped her
team through the loss. Rachel helped all of us understand that we
need to play each day like it is our last, and cherish every moment
we have together. She is a great team leader, one that all coaches
would want on their teams!”
The Susan R. Hellings award is given
annually to honor the outstanding woman’s volleyball player that
best exemplifies the mission of the NCCAA. The recipient must be a
junior or senior that combines athletics, academics, leadership, and
have a clear Christian testimony.
The NCCAA Division I Volleyball
selection committee is proud to honor Rachel Bult with the 2011
NCCAA Susan R. Hellings Award.
Headquartered in Greenville, South
Carolina, the NCCAA strives to promote the gospel of Jesus Christ
through its 22 National Championships and 3 National Invitationals.
For more information on the NCCAA and the awards presented, contact
