Football players
holding hands and praying in a downtown square and asking shoppers to
donate food to local food banks. Soccer players and golfers praying with
children and their parents during free clinics. Local volleyball teams
attending the praise and prayer time of the National Volleyball
Championship. NCCAA student-athletes and coaches ministering around the
world. It’s what sets the NCCAA apart.
Annually, NCCAA staff, student-athletes and coaches
perform approximately 2,000 hours of Christian outreach at NCCAA National
Championships! Over 4,700 NCCAA student-athletes and coaches have received
NCCAA funding for sports ministry trips. Lives are being changed!
This year,
the NCCAA is also focusing on loving our neighbors during this
economic crisis with an association-wide food drive. Teams
participating in NCCAA Regional Championships have collected
and donated non-perishable food items for local food banks in
host communities around the U.S. Our goal was to collect
2 tons of food throughout this school year. Just with
our fall and winter championship series, almost 4 tons (7,200+ lbs) of
food plus several hundreds of dollars have been donated to
dozens of food pantries
across the country to help feed the
needy!

After having gone through about a

Division II Soccer

|
Local youth participated in a free soccer clinic offered
during the 2008 Division II NCCAA National Soccer
Championship.
Over 90 local youth from
Osceola County soccer clubs came out to participate in the
6th Annual NCCAA Clinic conducted by On Goal Soccer
Ministry. The kids, age 4-14, were treated to a high
energy series of training sessions on a beautiful night in
Kissimmee. Over 40 NCCAA student-athletes served as
clinicians as parents and local youth coaches gathered to
watch.
Once the training sessions
were completed, On Goal staff shared the Good News of
Christ by using a mini soccer ball with panels of black
(sin), red (salvation), white (forgiveness), and green
(new life). One parent summed up the event by stating,
"These college kids really seem to enjoy spending time
with our kids. There is a real connection." Such is the
Body of Christ!
The fourteen NCCAA teams then
headed over to Campus Crusade for Christ to be treated to
a dinner and time of fellowship. This marks the third
year that CCC has provided this dinner and they have now
fed over 1500 NCCAA Soccer player and coaches since 2006.

NCCAA
Championship Golfers Ace Food Drive
(10/14/08)
Regardless of how the 90 collegiate golfers competing in the NCCAA
National Men's Golf Championship play in today's final round, they
will already be winners in the eyes of the Panama City Rescue
Mission. The players and coaches of NCCAA member universities
collected over 200 pounds of food and contributed $250 toward the
Rescue Mission's Food Pantry before teeing off for their final
rounds.
"This effort is central to the mission of the NCCAA and its member
colleges," stated Dan Wood, NCCAA Executive Director. "The
association has set a specific goal of collecting over 4,000 pounds of
food for the host cities of our 21 National Championships during the
2008-09 championship calendar. With this being one of the smallest events
relative to the number of competitors, we are thrilled to get off to
such a good start," Wood added.
Players delivered their team’s food to the scoreboard at The Hombre
Golf Club before play began and then assisted Rescue Mission staff in
loading for delivery. One school successfully challenged a local
grocery store to match whatever they purchased and came away with over
30 pounds of food for their effort.

A
single mother writes of her son’s experience at an NCCAA Christian Service
Project for Soccer (Jamilla, Kissimmee, Florida):
"Through the NCCAA clinic, my 10
year old son received more quality time with a positive male role model
than at any time in his life. Not only did the young man teach my son some
new soccer skills, but he also prayed with him to receive Christ. The
smile on my son’s face was priceless. Thank you for exposing our kids to
such incredible young people. Only eternity will be able to display the
true impact of your service."

From Dan Dunn, Men’s Basketball
Coach, Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, IL:
"Thank you for the generous
financial support of our men’s basketball missions trip to Alaska. We
worked with Native Americans and the local missionaries and pastors. The
Lord helped us as we gave clinics, played games and let our light shine in
a very spiritually needy area. God blessed the trip as the natives and
Christian workers were excited about what the Lord was doing for them and
in their lives. We were very blessed!"
From
Mark Williams II, NCCAA Student-Athlete, Men’s Basketball Team, Dallas
Christian College
My words cannot express how much I appreciate your
prayers and financial support through the NCCAA for my mission trip to The
Philippines. For two and a half weeks, we shared the gospel with over
25,000 people all over Panay Island. Over 6,700 people responded to the
message of Christ and their information has been given to area churches
for discipleship. This trip caused me to come out of my comfort zone and
rely on God more. In return, I experienced God in a new and exciting way.
Lives were changed forever because you supported the Lord’s work.
