This award is sponsored by John and Jody Wheeler who have been involved in athletic activities of Christian high schools and colleges for many years. The Wheelers continue to actively participate in the area of athletics and wish to promote athletics in Christian colleges. They have chosen to do this by a special individual award for excellence.
The awards were established in order to enhance excellence in Christian track and field competition and to perpetuate the Christian philosophy and faith as exemplified through Christ-like track and field participation in NCCAA member institutions.

The NCCAA is pleased to announce
Grace College’s Macallister Seitz as the recipient of the 2017 Outdoor Track and Field Wheeler Award. Seitz is a senior from Indianapolis, Indiana.
Seitz is an accomplished thrower in multiple events. Despite starting the sport of track and field as a sophomore in college, Seitz has gone on to develop into an All-American. He became Grace’s second NAIA outdoor All-American last spring when he placed eighth nationally in the discus. In 2016, he was also named NCCAA All-American in both the discus and hammer.
Already this season Seitz qualified for NAIA Indoor Nationals in the weight throw and is set to compete at both the NCCAA National Championship and NAIA Outdoor Nationals. He currently holds school records for indoor shot put, indoor weight throw, and outdoor discus, and he was recently named the Grace College Male Athlete of the Year for his accomplishments.
Outside of competition, Seitz helps lead a weekly Bible study for the team’s throwers. He currently boasts a 3.48 GPA while earning his degree in business and is in pursuit of an MBA.
“Macallister’s story is really special. He is one of the few people to qualify for NCCAA national competition in every throwing event, both indoor and outdoor, during his career,” said Grace coach Jeff Raymond. “Along the way, he has been a leader on our team and especially on the throwing squad. His hard work and dedication to become a quality student-athlete has rubbed off on those around him, while his character and sincerity have set a high standard for others on our team.”
