Roanoke, VA: The #1 seed Mississippi College captured their first NCCAA Softball National Championship as they defeated #2 Belhaven University by the score of 3-0.
On their way to the final, Mississippi College went 3-0 in pool play, defeating #8 Oakland City University 14-4, #5 Southern Wesleyan University 11-0, and #4 Emmanuel College 13-5. In a semifinal matchup, Carlie Sargent pitched a complete game, allowing just 5 hits and 1 run in the Choctaws’ 5-1 win over #3 Judson University. In Mississippi College’s championship game victory over Belhaven University, Carlie Sargent pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just 4 hits and striking out 7. Choctaws’ left-fielder, Megan Everett, went 1-for-3 with a walk and 2 RBI’s.
