Jonny Marlin Named the 2016 DI Pete Maravich Award Recipient

The purpose of the award is to recognize the outstanding NCCAA student-athlete in Division I Men's Basketball. It highlights excellence in competition, skill, academics, and Christian service during his career. This award is sponsored by Mr. Gary Beck, manager of the Gary Beck Foundation and a former NCCAA All-American student-athlete from Greenville College (IL).
 
 

The NCCAA is pleased to recognize Jonny Marlin of Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) as the 2016 Division I Pete Maravich Award winner.
 
4015Jonny, a 5-foot-11 point guard from Greenwood, Indiana has been the primary leader on the floor for the Wildcats. Jonny’s teammates look to him for direction which is evidenced through his 6.3 assists per game, first in the NCCAA. He averages 14.4 points per game on 48.5 percent shooting from the floor and 82.6 percent from the free throw line. Jonny is also a leader defensively as he was second on the team in steals. Jonny’s play led to him earning 1st Team All-Conference honors in the Crossroads League.
 
Jonny’s leadership further translates off the court and into the classroom as he holds a 3.67 GPA in organizational leadership in graduate school. IWU’s head basketball coach Greg Tonagel states, “Jonny is one of the most spiritually disciplined individuals I have ever coached.” Tonagel added, “His competitive attitude and intense work ethic are both products of his love for the Lord.”
