Colorado Christian University Wins First DI Women's Soccer National Championship

Kissimmee, FL (12/3/16):  Colorado Christian University (CCU) won their first NCCAA DI Women’s Soccer National Championship after beating Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) by the score of 1-0. The No. 6 seeded CCU Cougars went undefeated in pool play, beating #9 John Wesley University 8-0 and upsetting #1 Grace College 1-0 with a late penalty kick goal by Mariah Fredericks. Reseeded as the No. 2 seed for the semifinals, CCU defeated #3 Houghton College 3-0 with 2 goals from Sarah Feller and 1 from Mollie Monson. In the championship game against #1 OBU, Sarah Fellar scored in the first half to give CCU a 1-0 lead that the Cougars held on to the remainder of the game. The Cougars outscored their opponents 13-0 throughout the entire tournament.
 
Mariah Fredericks from CCU was named the Tournament Most Outstanding Player and Meredith Hollar of Grace College was the GP4L Award recipient. The All-Tournament Team and Scholar-Athletes are listed here.
