We are excited for our NCCAA Championships to be held at the Mobile Tennis Center.  It is an outstanding facility, host to numerous collegiate tournaments, including the NAIA national championships, and ITA small college nationals.  Director Scott Novak and his staff do an outstanding job, and make tournaments great experiences for players, coaches, and spectators. Having six courts for each of the matches will eliminate order of singles play issues, and speed up matches, allowing time for players and coaches to enjoy the city of Mobile.

Mobile is a charming southern city; it’s been my pleasure to be there each year since the NAIA national tournament adopted Mobile as its host city.  The historic downtown area has been beautifully restored; the USS Alabama is moored at Battleship Park, and may be toured.  There are antebellum mansions, and other historic sites your teams may enjoy.  There are numerous restaurants featuring excellent fresh seafood as well as steak, chicken, etc.  Prices are reasonable.  Coaches, watch your email for further information.

-----------------------

You are receiving this email because your college or university has declared an intent to participate in NCCAA tennis.  As you know, we have a championship tournament in tennis, but, due to the manner in which NCCAA tennis programs are geographically distributed, we do not have a regional qualification by which teams advance to the national event.

Our national tournament seeks to bring together the best eight men's and women's teams, respectively, to compete for the NCCAA championship.  Attached to this email is an announcement of the 2010 NCCAA Tennis Championships, in Mobile, Alabama.

Selection of teams to compete in our national tournament is somewhat complicated, in that our member schoos, in addition to their NCCAA affiliation, are typically also affiliated with NAIA, or NCAA Div.II or III.  Accordingly, we are doing things a bit differently this year, in order to both have the strongest NCCAA tournament possible, and to be fair to those programs in contention for post-season berths in NCAA regional events.  To that end, I ask that you do the following:

1.  Once your season begins, at the end of each week, please email your match results to Jerry Malone at NCCAA (jmalone@thenccaa.org).  They will be posted on the NCCAA website.  That will give everyone an opportunity to see how NCCAA tennis teams are doing, and facilitate selection to the tournament.  Teams that played in the Fall (either a complete season or a few matches) should go ahead and submit those results now.

2.  Attached to this email is a form: "Intent to Participate in the NCCAA National Tennis Tournament".  If you wish your team to be considered for a national championship berth, complete that form, and return it to Dee Morris, NCCAA Tennis Chair, on or before Monday, April 12.  If your team is likely to be in contention for an NCAA D-II or II regional berth, please indicate that on the form.

3.  Coaches desiring an NCCAA tournament berth should email an updated summary of their season results to Dee Morris, NCCAA Tennis Chair, not later than 10pm on Saturday, April 24.

4.  Teams selected for the NCCAA tournament will be notified by email, not later than April 29.  Teams not in contention for an NCAA bid, who are clearly qualified for our tournament,

will be notified earlier in the week.

5.  Entry fee is $250 per team.  Checks should be made payable to NCCAA, and should be brought to the tournament, and turned over to the tennis chair at the Sunday evening coaches meeting.

I wish you well with your Spring seasons!  If you have questions, do not hesitate to contact me.  email:  morrisl@cedarville.edu ; Fax: 937-766-2795; Phone: 937-766-3479.
