The Master's College Captures 2nd National Golf Title

Panama City Beach, FL: The Master's College (CA) Mustangs captured their third NCCAA Men's Golf title with a final round team score of 300 to win by 10 shots over runner-up, Malone University. The Mustangs' 54-hole total of 900 was led by Kevin Anderson who took medalist honors with a final round 72 for a 3-under total of 213. Tied for 3rd place in the team standings were 2009 National Champions, Dallas Baptist University, and Indiana Wesleyan University who both finished with team totals of 919 (DBU named 3rd place due to lower final round total).

The Master's College coach, Jason Semelsberger, was named NCCAA Men's Golf Coach of the year.

The championship began with a Tee-Off Dinner and Christian Service Project (CSP). While many see the highlight of the event as earning the championship banner, the real highlight is the opportunity for NCCAA student-athletes and coaches to hold their CSP before the event kicks off. The eighteen qualifying teams hosted residents of the Panama City Rescue Mission and presented them with care packages. This interaction and hands-on ministry effort is the latest in a four year partnership tied to the event. NCCAA team members took time to minister to the Mission residents and pray with them.

The mission residents then shared a song with the NCCAA teams which was left to them from Michael Cooper, Men's Program Director who passed away in July from cancer. Stressing the mission of the men/women of God, the song further confirmed that the NCCAA is about mission first and competition second. It was a way for the residents to minister to those in attendance at the dinner.

The 2011 NCCAA Men's Golf Championship is scheduled to return to The Hombre, October 24-26, 2011. For complete results, please visit http://www.thenccaa.org/mensgolfchamp.htm.
