Faith Based
Competition
The NCCAA was incorporated in 1968 to provide a Christian-based organization
that functions uniquely as a national and international agency for the promotion
and enhancement of intercollegiate athletic competition with a Christian perspective.
Approximately 100 Christian colleges and universities comprise the NCCAA involving
well over 13,000 student-athletes and 850 coaches. A combined total of 20
national
championships in men's and women's sports are sponsored by the NCCAA as well
as several national invitational tournaments.
The very existence of the
NCCAA addressed the need for a unique plan to encourage Christian distinctives
in the lives of young men and women in a day where the foundations of our society
are being greatly challenged. The NCCAA wants to vigorously promote Christian
ethics and purpose of life through athletics within the membership.
The NCCAA is committed to:
1.supporting coaches and their institutions in a plan that will impact the
lives of student-athletes for Christ in the present as well as in the future.
2.challenging the student-athlete via regional and national competition.
3.enabling student-athletes to participate in intercultural outreach ministries
through missions.
4.expecting academic excellence.
5.encouraging Christians to be able to best serve family, school, church, and
our world.
6.Making a positive impact in developing the leaders of tomorrow.
Regional and national competition
is offered in both men's and women's sports. International competition is being
promoted with an emphasis on ministry and missions. The competitive opportunities
offered by the NCCAA and it's affiliates extend beyond the college experience
in this way. It is our desire to raise more funds in order to assist student-athletes
in visiting other countries to compete and witness for Jesus Christ. This experience
will affect the lives of the students tremendously as well as impact the lives
of those to whom they minister.
The NCCAA believes that
athletics are a means to an end and that the process is as important as the
performance. We desire to provide a field of play for schools, coaches and athletes
to exemplify the spirit of competition in a way that will glorify God. |
